OLED SMD, use organic light source to recover wounds part two

OLED SMD, use organic light source to recover wounds part two

Aug 31, 2023

The OLED patch is only palm-sized, lightweight, flexible and durable. It weighs only 0.82 grams and is 676 microns thick. The patch can run for more than 300 hours and can bend along a curve with a radius of 20 mm.

And, its temperature is always kept below 40 degrees Celsius, avoiding the risk of first-degree burns.

According to the developer, with this design, the phototherapy patch can be worn comfortably on the skin, allowing patients to receive continuous treatment every day without too much discomfort.

The South Korean research team has proved through experiments that OLED patches can help heal wounds by stimulating the proliferation and migration of fibroblasts. Fibroblasts are dermal cells that play a key role in wound healing.

According to the research team, the mini OLED display patch showed a 58% increase in fibroblast proliferation and a 46% increase in fibroblast migration, which proves that it has a significant effect on tissue regeneration.

The first author of the paper, Jeon, said through the National Research Foundation of Korea: "Once this patch is commercialized, patients will be able to receive light therapy more conveniently."

"By controlling the amount of light emitted, we can also expand the scope of product use to include not only skin regeneration, but also the treatment of skin cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and depression.
