Although the silicon sealing material can ensure that the white LED has a service life of 40,000 hours, there are different opinions in the lighting equipment industry. The main argument is that the service life of traditional incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps is defined as "the brightness is reduced to less than 30%." For white LEDs with a halving time of 40,000 hours, if the brightness is reduced to below 30%, there are only about 20,000 hours left. There are currently two countermeasures to extend the service life of components, namely:
① Suppress the overall temperature rise of the white LED.
② Stop using the resin encapsulation method.
The above two countermeasures can achieve the requirement that the service life reaches 40,000 hours when the brightness is reduced to 30%. To suppress the temperature rise of white light LED, the method of cooling the white light seven segment LED package printed circuit board can be used. The main reason is that the package resin will deteriorate rapidly under high temperature conditions and strong light irradiation. According to the Arrhenius law, the life span is reduced by 100°C. Will extend 2 times.
Stop using resin encapsulation can completely eliminate the deterioration factors, because the light generated by the white LED is reflected in the encapsulation resin. If you use a resin reflector that can change the direction of light on the side of the chip, the reflector will absorb the light, so the amount of light taken out will be reduced. This is also the main reason for the use of ceramic and metal packaging materials.
