Brightness requirements for medical displays

Sep 26, 2024

LCD displays have a wide range of uses, usually used in civilian mobile phones, tablets, TVs, etc., and gradually extended to industrial equipment and medical equipment, etc. When it comes to medical equipment, it is much stricter than other equipment, such as The brightness requirements for LCD displays are also very strict. Today, the editor will talk to you about the brightness requirements of medical displays.

Brightness is how bright the image is displayed on the custom LCD screen. The brighter the display, the greater the dynamic range that can be produced in the image, allowing people to distinguish more tones in the image. This dynamic range must provide a full 8-bit grayscale image ( i.e. 256 different shades).

Ordinary LCD display screens have: 200-300cd/m2 constant brightness requirements; medical display screens have: 600-700cd/m2 brightness set between 400-500cd/m2; require 30,000 hours or even 100,000 hours The hourly brightness value remains unchanged.

Constant brightness is very important to ensure that the brightness of the segment LCD does not change with time. Experimental research has proven that the relationship between the brightness of the LCD display and the sensitivity of the naked eye is that when the brightness is 500cd/m2, the sensitivity of the naked eye is 700, when the brightness is 800cd/m2, the sensitivity of the naked eye is 777 (maximum), and the ideal brightness is 400 ~500cd/m2, so just choose brightness 700cd/m2.
